Heating and Cooling Tax Credits Extended for 2016!

Improving the energy efficiency of your home is a great idea all-around. That’s why we offer energy audits for homes in Phoenix and the surrounding areas. Our experts will find many ways you can boost your home performance so you save money and improve comfort.

But did you know that the government offers you savings as well on many of these home improvements? Tax rebates for energy-efficient HVAC systems offer you even more ways to cut down on your comfort costs for the year.

You can get started by arranging for an energy audit with our team!

There are a number of tax credits from the U.S. Department of Energy’s ENERGY STAR program that have been renewed for 2016 as part of the Consolidated Appropriation Act. These tax credits not only apply to purchases made in 2016—but also retroactively to purchases made in 2015.

One of the best tax credits is $300 for an ENERGY STAR-certified air-source heat pump. Heat pumps are popular in the Phoenix area since they work so well as powerful air conditioners in the long summers and then as energy-efficient heaters during the short and mild winters. If you’ve installed a heat pump in 2015–2016 or a planning one now, you can apply for this tax credit if the system has SEER greater than 15 (the cooling mode efficiency rating) and HSPF greater than 8.5 (the heating mode efficiency rating).

What about a stand-alone heating system like a furnace? There are rebates available for those as well. You can receive a $150 tax credit for a gas furnace that has an AFUE rating of at least 95%, plus an additional $50 rebate for a main air circulating fan that accounts for 2% or less of the total furnace energy.

Don’t worry about maneuvering your way through all the HVAC equipment which qualifies for a tax credit: we’re here to help you, especially if you are considering a new air conditioning or heating installation before the end of the year. Our technicians can help you find a new unit that qualifies for the 2016–2015 tax credits.

This is not the only “free money” available to Arizona residents who make home energy efficiency improvements either. If you have SRP or APS as your utility provider, you can qualify for as much as $800 per air conditioning unit when you use Magic Touch Mechanical to install your new cooling and heating equipment.

Additionally, there is well over $1,000 available to you from both of these power companies when you make other energy efficiency improvements such as; adding attic insulation, sealing air leaks around your home, sealing up leaks in your air conditioning ducts, and other energy efficiency improvements that qualify. This program is known as Home Performance with Energy Star and it all starts with a $99 home energy audit. You just call us and we take care of the rest…including submitting all of the rebate paperwork for you!

Like they say on those silly infomercials…”But wait there’s more!”

Many air conditioning and heating manufacturers also offer equipment rebates on certain models throughout the year. Not only do we at Magic Touch Mechanical participate in these rebates, we often match them and sometimes have instant rebates on models we are well stocked with. Call us today to set up a free home evaluation and consultation, or if you’re ready to take the next step, you can set up your home energy audit.
