Dimplex Ignite XL Bold Electric Fireplace Review

After 27 years in the fireplace business, we decided to build a physical fireplace design center this year. For over ¼ century, most of our fireplace services revolved around natural gas & propane fireplaces. When clients were interested in a new gas fireplace, they had to choose one from our catalog. However, electric fireplaces must be seen in person to be truly appreciated. Dimplex electric fireplaces are a prime example, the Dimplex Ignite & Dimplex Ignite XL Bold look entirely different in person. While they sound the same, we have both in our fireplace showroom so people in the Mesa – Phoenix area can see which they like better. Choosing from a catalog or website isn’t a great option for something so personal.

 

 

Electric Fireplaces Are More Popular Than Ever

The Dimplex Ignite XL Bold & Dimplex Ignite are only two of over a dozen electric fireplaces in our design center. Of course, we have propane & natural gas fireplaces as well. We also have a room dedicated to gas logs, fire glass, cannonballs, & vented as well as vent-free gas products. But we have many rooms devoted to electric fireplaces for a good reason – electric fireplaces are more popular than ever. Likely because electric fireplaces make good sense in Phoenix, as unlike gas you can use them with or without heat.

Dimplex Ignite XL Bold Electric Fireplace – A Closeup Look

Dimplex Ignite XL Bold vs Ignite XL

Install options are the glaring difference between the Dimplex Ignite XL Bold and the Ignite XL. The Bold is a multi-position fireplace. “Multi” means it can be displayed 1-sided (flush in the wall), 2-sided, or 3-sided also called “bay installation”.

As shown in the photos, the one in our design center is in a 3-sided application, (glass viewing on 3-sides). This is the most popular configuration with our clients.

Unlike the Dimplex Ignite Bold, the regular Ignite can only be installed single-sided (front view only). It’s best suited for applications where wall depth is more restrictive.

Connect Multiple Fireplaces

The Dimplex Ignite XL Bold is a linear (rectangular) electric fireplace available in five sizes (width across): 50”, 60”, 74”, 88”, & 100”. As if an over 8-foot-long fireplace wasn’t long enough, this model can be connected to another … and another. Connect two or more to make a “Bold” statement in your home or business!

While the regular Ignite is a beautiful electric fireplace, the Ignite Bold is just that … bold! The depth, 3-sided viewing, included baseball-size gems over smaller gems, and driftwood logs make a “bold” statement in any room. Try Before You Buy

As I said at the beginning of this review, electric fireplaces are best viewed in person. It’s hard to notice the subtle differences between brands and models in photos or videos. The last thing you want to do is purchase & install an electric fireplace you’re unhappy with. Especially considering they last a very long time!
